Welcome to Highgate Alpacas

Highgate is a full service alpaca farm nestled in the beautiful highlands of Haliburton, Ontario, approximately 2 ½ hours north of Toronto. The farm has chosen to focus on the creation of an elite herd of white and fawn huacaya alpacas that have been carefully bred for excellence in health, quality of fleece, phenotype, geneotype, and temperament. There are both double and single registered animals, as well as some that are part of the breed-up program. Select genetics in our herd include:

Highgate's breeding program seeks to raise alpacas whose fleece show significant improvement with successive generations. Breeding decisions are directed through an analysis of varied herd assessment and scientific data. Each alpaca is expected to produce a fleece that has long staple length, minimal primary fibres, and uniformity of fineness that is maintained with age.

This unique farm with its tranquil setting, attentive staff, and comprehensive husbandry program ensures our alpacas experience a relaxed, low-stress environment.
